Introducing our children to the Bible is one of the most meaningful things we can do as parents, but where do we begin?
A deep dive into Leviticus probably won’t capture a toddler’s attention. The poetry of Song of Solomon might raise more questions than answers! While I believe children are never too young to hear Scripture, it’s also helpful to have age-appropriate resources that make God’s truth accessible and engaging.

Over the years, I’ve discovered some incredible Bible storybooks and kid-friendly translations. These resources have helped me share Jesus with my children. Whether you’re looking for a first Bible for your little one or a translation that makes Scripture more approachable for older kids, these tried-and-true resources can help lay a strong foundation of faith. I’ve collected 10 of the best Bibles for kids all in one place to help you find a resource that will work in your homeschool!
As an adult, I prefer reading the English Standard Version (ESV) because it stays close to a word-for-word translation of Scripture, which I believe is important. However, when choosing Bibles for my kids, I often reach for the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) . The CSB is great because its language is more accessible while still being faithful to the original text.

Best Bible Storybooks for Kids
Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones

The Jesus Storybook Bible is one of my favorite Bible storybooks. Every story beautifully points back to Jesus and His redemptive love. The engaging, lyrical storytelling paired with vibrant, whimsical illustrations makes it a joy to read aloud. With its catchy titles and Christ-centered focus, this book helps children see how all of Scripture tells the greatest story ever—God’s rescue plan through Jesus.
The Bible Made Easy-For Kids by Dave Strehler

The Bible Made Easy for Kids does a wonderful job of explaining Bible stories in a way that children can easily understand. I love that it includes timelines and maps to help kids see that the Bible isn’t just a collection of stories—it’s real history. With fun facts and thought-provoking questions woven throughout, this book encourages deeper thinking and meaningful conversations about God’s Word.
It’s All About Jesus Bible Storybook by The Gospel Project

The It’s All About Jesus Bible Storybook from The Gospel Project is a fantastic resource that helps kids see the big picture of Scripture—how every story points to Jesus. One of the things I love about The Gospel Project is their commitment to teaching the Bible chronologically. They also always keep their storybooks Christ-centered. Rather than just picking and choosing well-known “kid stories.” they walk children through the entire Bible, including the harder topics. This helps kids develop deep, theologically sound beliefs from an early age. You will notice a variety of Bibles from The Gospel Project have made it my list of the Best Bibles for Kids. We like them (a lot)!
Our family loves The Gospel Project so much that we use The Gospel Project: Home Edition as our Bible curriculum in our homeschool (more on that later). Our church also uses The Gospel Project for Sunday School. I can’t recommend it enough! You can learn more about The Gospel Project here.
The Big Picture Interactive Bible Storybook by The Gospel Project

The Big Picture Interactive Bible Storybook is an exciting, hands-on way for kids to engage with Scripture. With augmented reality features that bring Bible characters to life and QR codes linking to videos, it’s a fantastic resource for visual and interactive learners. This book makes exploring God’s Word even more engaging, especially for kids who benefit from a more immersive experience.
The Big Book of Bible Stories for Toddlers by The Gospel Project

The Big Book of Bible Stories for Toddlers brings all the solid, Christ-centered teaching of The Gospel Project into a format perfect for little ones. The simple, engaging language makes it easy for even the youngest learners to understand God’s Word. It’s never too early to start pointing our children to Jesus, and this book is a wonderful way to begin!
My First Hands-On Bible

My First Hands-On Bible is a unique Bible storybook that uses actual Scripture text rather than paraphrased retellings, making it a great first Bible for young kids. Along with carefully selected stories, it includes interactive icons that prompt children to pause, reflect, and engage with God’s Word in a hands-on way. This combination of real Bible verses and interactive elements makes it a wonderful resource for helping little ones develop a love for Scripture from an early age.
Best Bibles for Kids
ESV My Creative Bible

My Creative Bible is an ESV translation with fun places to doodle and color spread throughout. This Bible is great for the creative minded kid in your life.
CSB Explorer Bible for Kids

The Explorer Bible and the One Big Story Bible (below) are the ones we most commonly use. What I really like about The Explorer Bible is that each book begins by telling the theme of the book, author of the book, and more in a way that kids can understand. It has many other unique features including character profiles and Discovering Truth QR codes that link to videos. There are also special sections that highlight the history and archaeology that relate to the given text. I love using this Bible in our homeschool!
CSB One Big Story Bible

This is one of our newer Bibles, but it has become a favorite. The One Big Story Bible pairs with The Gospel Project curriculum using many of the same images and logos that my kids are already familiar with. It highlights verses to remember, the Christ Connection of the text, and the Big Question that go right along with our Gospel Project curriculum. I highly recommend the One Big Story Bible.
A Dyslexia-Friendly Bible for Kids
CSB Grace Bible for Kids

Okay, so we don’t actually own this Bible, but it just released in November. It is a dyslexia friendly Bible written in large, dyslexia friendly font. It also has study helps and colored overlays that are great for helping dyslexic learners read the Bible on their own. If you have a student that struggles with reading in your home, this one is worth checking out. They even have an adult version of the Grace Bible!
